The island of Taquile is about 45 kilometers away from Puno and
it takes about 3 hours by boat to get there. The islanders are native
Quechua speaking indians and have a communal life style. They still
maintain most of the old traditions of the Inca days. On the island
are Inca ruins and lots of Inca terraces.
The island is famous
for its high quality handicraft.
On route we have
a stop at the Uros islands.
